Gender Reveal: What will it be! A He or a She?

April 6, 2018

Gender Reveal Party at Mud Pie!

As you can tell from previous posts here on A Slice of Pie, we LOVE to celebrate absolutely everything and everyone! From becoming a U.S citizen, to getting a new dog, to even having a great hair day, we find any excuse to throw a little party and of course, eat something sweet. Recently, we found out one of our own Mud Pie gals was expecting *cue dancing Oprah meme* so naturally, we had to have a gender reveal party. We were dying to know what it was going to be, a HE or a SHE?!

Here comes the Gender Reveal! Drum roll please…

We covered the table with pink and blue everything. Cupcakes, plates, napkins and toys. We had two games so people could guess what they thought the gender was going to be. First, you had to color in either the ‘SHE’ or ‘HE’ of a Hershey chocolate bar. Next, you had to color the front of a clothespin with either pink or blue and pin it to yourself. We checked out all of the clothespins before the cake was cut and the majority of the office thought it would be a girl (are you surprised?) It felt like an eternity waiting for the mama-to-be to slice that cake! The second she lifted up the knife, we were all going crazy, cheering and screaming for a BABY BOY that will be due in September. There must be something in the water her at MP, because it seems like everyone is having boys! We can’t wait to meet this sweet pea and for him to star in future blog posts.

DIY: MUD PIE IN YOUR HOME PART FOUR

July 7, 2017

Hey babes!

DIY projects are a great way to spend your Summer days! Get your DIY brain ready, because we have our fourth and final wall for you to try this season.

So you’ve heard it before, but if you are new to the blog party (which you should just go ahead and subscribe to us, that way you’ll stay in the loop!), we will give you a little background on our ridiculously amazing design team.

A little backstory on our Super Squad

Every year, twice a year, our Mud Pie Visual Merchandising Director, Chad Gieseke rounds up his team and creates a master piece of a showroom based on that seasons catalog.

It takes a lot of time and hard work to make a showroom as innovative and beautiful as Chad and his team does. “I’m constantly thinking of ideas for the showroom. It never stops,” says Chad. Where do all of his magnificent ideas come from? Well, it’s simply the product itself. He picks up on the color, textures and icons from the product and designs from there.

And you may think that is simple. Oh, but then add in three different lines (kids, living and fashion) and then a 11,000 sq ft showroom in Atlanta, a 3,800 sq ft showroom in Las Vegas, a 4,000 sq ft showroom in Dallas AND a 800 sq ft showroom in New York. Believe it or not, Chad, his 4 freelance designers and his MP sidekick Nola have the same amount of hours in the day as we do. And just saying, I’ve never seen Chad, Nola and the team in the same room as Superman, Superwoman and their team..

Now onto the goods

We highlighted Chad and his team’s work on four different walls in the Atlanta Showroom for Spring 2017. Our final stop on this super adorable polka dot wall. You can use these vinyl stickers anywhere! On a window, in your little one’s room, are you inspired yet? Chad and his team created a ‘frame’ out of the vinyl polka dots that looked into a baby girls birthday party. This wall featured our Baby & Kids items (hint hint: Many you can find on mud-pie.com right now!). The inspiration came straight from our Oh Happy Day Baby Socks, One Tutu Crawler, Birthday Princess Dress, Birthday Princess Tutu Skirt Set, Birthday Princess Tunic & Leggings Set and the Glitter Party Hat Headbands.

Now, off to DIY!

Baby Shower Gift Guide

June 15, 2016

Header

We all know the drill – you receive yet another baby shower invitation and a part of you immediately starts to panic…“I don’t have kids… I have no idea what to buy…  Did she even find out what she’s having?… I want to get her something she doesn’t already have”. Thankfully, our fears and insecurities are often settled by today’s world of registries and wish lists. But what do you do if there’s no registry included on the invite? Or what if all the good items are already taken?

We all want our gifts to be meaningful, memorable, all around adorable and lets just face it… the best one at the shower. I’ve found the biggest crowd pleaser is to mix and match a few Mud Pie essential “too adorable not to buy” items to create an unforgettable gift basket.  And by essentials I mean items like our My 1st Tutu Photography Set… a necessity in my eyes! Here is my baby shower gift guide to make you gift searching run as smooth as possible!

baby shower decorating Ideas

November 21, 2014

oh_baby_header_small

Last weekend I hosted my first baby shower. When I began the planning, I was quick to check off the more practical tasks from my list (catering, cleaning, etc.) so I could focus the most attention on my favorite part: Decorating. My goal was to create a personal, homespun look that didn’t feel too predictable. By mixing in homemade decor along with some key Mud Pie items, I was able to pull off the authentic look I was aiming for. Here’s a preview of some of my favorite details!  Hope you get some of your own baby shower decorating ideas!

  1. Large Chalkboard Arrow. Hanging these chalkboard arrows outside was a perfect way to direct guests to the party.  (Tip: I traced over my writing with a chalk marker to avoid smudges.)
  2.  Pinwheel Garland. I created a long strand of these to drape over the entrance way. These are so easy make! Find the tutorial I used here.
  3.  Mason Jar Centerpiece, Queen of Hearts Antiques.  I love mixing older pieces mixed in with new to create interest.  This 50″ vintage mason jar was a fun antique store find.  To match the occasion, I tied it with a blue ribbon and added cherry blossoms.  For a smaller version, consider this.
  4. Petit Fours, Henris. My co-worker, Lindsey, recommended these for dessert.  Not only were they beautifully decorated, they were absolutely delicious.
  5. Monster One Piece and Bib, Mud Pie. Everyone seems to love looking at new baby clothes. Hanging up a baby clothesline was a great way to showcase some of the baby clothing items that were received as gifts.
  6. Distressed Frame, Mud Pie. One of the newest additions to Mud Pie’s baby frames, coming Spring 2015!
  7. Blue and White Circle Garland, Etsy. I hung strands of this festive garland over the mantle and gift table to add in more color.
  8. Drink Station. Preserve jars can be an interesting alternative to disposable cups. These were placed on a tiered shelf next to the ice bucket so guests could help themselves to their beverage of choice. For an even more personalized look, these are also great.  (Tip: if you chose to go this route for casual glassware, make sure to include decorative straws!)
